Florida, feds disagree on new health insurance prices
State insurance officials unveiled proposed prices for health plans to be sold on the exchanges beginning Oct. 1. But those plans, and the prices, have yet to be approved by the federal government and could change if Florida’s experience reflects other states. Some teachers will get plastic to buy school supplies this year
When Florida teachers dip into their own pockets this fall to purchase school supplies – as most routinely do -- some will get to put it on plastic. As part of a broader $1-billion increase in education funding pushed by Gov. Rick Scott and legislators, school districts are being allowed to issue debit cards to teachers to buy up to $250 in supplies for their classrooms. [Source: Orlando Sentinel]
SunPass to replace oldest transponders
SunPass is replacing millions of older transponders with newer, battery-free models that will work on toll roads outside Florida. The federal government has set an Oct. 1, 2016 deadline requiring the nation's toll roads to allow drivers to use one transponder on any toll road. [Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel]
